Summer Festival 2022

There are lots of summer festivals in Otaru from June to August.

The festivals were held for the first time in three years.

Festival stalls are called "Demise" line up along the streets, and you can enjoy various kinds of food and game stalls.

Takoyaki (octopus dumplings)

Mikoshi is a sacred palanquin in which deity rides at the time of the festival. This palanquin is shaped like a miniature Shinto shrine building. People carry it on their shoulders with saying "Wasshoi! Wasshoi!" and parade around the city.

OTARU USHIO TAIKO is a Japanese drum and very important traditional performing art. You must be impressed by their dynamic performance.

  TENGUU ZIP-LINE  

Feel the wind as you glide through the forest like a tengu,

 and enjoy the breathtaking view of Otaru

  TENGUU TETHERED HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE  

From the top of Mt. Tengu, located 530 meters above ground, 

fly an additional 30 meters into the sky in a tethered hot air balloon,

 and take in the spectacular 360-degree view!

There are various food stalls in Otaru Denuki-koji, you can feel old Japanese era.

If you go upstairs, the observation deck is there.

Please enjoy a nice view of Otaru Canal.
